A secondary school football player was killed as he protected three young ladies from gunfire as a few men went on a shooting spree in Tennessee, police said Friday.
The shootings that killed Zaevion William Dobson, 15, started Thursday night, said Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch. The principal individual shot was Lisa Perry, 46, who was inside her condo at the time. She is relied upon to survive.
Rausch said Perry's 23-year-old child, Brandon Perry, and a few other men then headed to the area where Dobson lived and "arbitrarily let go different times."
The young ladies protected by Dobson were not hurt, he said.
Brandon Perry was later found to have been shot after he slammed an auto into another loft. He kicked the bucket from his wounds on Friday morning. Two other men who fled from the accident were captured, however one was later discharged in the wake of being addressed.
"These apprehensive and silly demonstrations of savagery must stop," Rausch said. "We ought to be planning to praise the Christmas occasion, yet now we have two men who are dead."
Rausch said agents think the shootings are posse related, however he said there didn't give off an impression of being a thought process to target Dobson.
