Veteran striker Didier Drogba has confirmed that he will not be an assistant coach at Chelsea as he is joining Montreal Impact for pre-season.
Interim boss Guus Hiddink expressed his wish of having the striker at Chelsea as an assistant if they can sort out his contract obligation with MLS side, Impact.
It seems the Canadian club refused to let go of their striker who took to Twitter to reveal that he is on his way to Qatar to join his teammate on a pre-season camp.
“On way to Qatar to do some preparation work for pre-season @impactmontreal,” Drogba wrote.
An official statement released on Impact’s official website on Sunday read: “Forward Didier Drogba will not be present for the opening of the camp, but he will be doing preparation work in view of the upcoming season.
“He will join the team for the second part of training camp, which will take place from Feb. 15 to 28 in St. Petersburg, Florida.”
Drogba joined Montreal Impact last year after leaving Chelsea and scored 11 goals in 11 games for Impact last year.
