A Gambian footballer, Yusupha Yaffa has been summoned to court after he was sued by his former club, AC Milan for a age fraud.
Yaffa arrived in Italy in 2009 seeking asylum and lied to AC Milan that he was 13 at that time while he was 22.
The player had told immigration officials he was born on December 31 1996, instead of November 14 1987.
According to La Gazetta dello Sport, the player claimed that he lost his identification documents during the move abroad.
Remarks online by Yaffa about his education however did not compliment his story and he had his real age on his Facebook page.
Yusupha Yaffa left AC Milan last year and now plays for MSC Duisburg in Germany.
He has been ordered to return to Italy to face his charges.
Yaffa's lawyer is trying to have the case moved to a juvenile court, as he argues that his client was underage when the alleged offence took place.
