Nigerian Football Federation was thrown into mourning on New Year day following the death of former Enyimba International goalkeeper, Chinedu Agwu, who was pronounced dead after a protracted illness.
According to reports, the 29-year-old goalkeeper died few hours into the New Year, after a long battle to keep his life. Agwu, who was also a former Kaduna United goalkeeper, is the second Nigerian player to die in less than five days after the death of former Nasarawa United captain, Baba Idris occurred.
The deceased made waves while at Kaduna United but was denied first team opportunity after an ambitious move to Enyimba. Late Agwu was known to be great penalty kick stopper, a quality which earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles in 2010.
