The police at the Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, western Nigeria, have captured a suspected auto hoodlum, Mathias Isa, 28, in Kogi State with the Toyota Camry 2007 Model auto he supposedly stole from the Marina auto park on Lagos Island.
The police affirmed that the occurrence happened on 27 November, 2015 when the proprietor of the auto, Mr. Olatunde Idris Ibikunle drove the auto with enlistment number AAA 146 AP and stopped it a Marina auto park after which he dropped the auto key with the security watch at the recreation center.
Police said when the auto proprietor left the recreation center to purchase something adjacent, the suspect drew nearer the security monitor with the auto key and misled him that he was the driver to the Toyota auto proprietor and that the proprietor called him on telephone and requesting that he drive out the auto to pick him along Marina road.
The security protect, as indicated by the police, trusted him and gave the auto key over to him.
The associate drove the auto out with the recreation center and went to his town in Ayingba zone of Kogi State to search for a purchaser for it.
Adversary made up for lost time with the suspect when he was captured by the police in Kogi State while driving the auto around to search for a purchaser.
Amid cross examination, as indicated by examination, the suspect supposedly admitted to the police that he stole the auto from an auto park in Lagos to offer and utilize the returns to tackle his family issues.
Taking after his asserted admission, the police in Kogi State sent a sign to the Lagos State Police Command about the occurrence and the DPO responsible for Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, CSP Anthonia Tamaruno, despatched a group drove by Corporal Gboyega Oyeniyi to Kogi State to bring the suspect and the stolen auto back to Lagos.
After examination, the suspect was summoned in the witness of a Tinubu Magistrates' court, Lagos on an one-number charge of crime to mind, taking.
The offense is culpable under segment 285 (10) of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The charged however argued not blameworthy to the asserted wrongdoing, and Chief Magistrate Mrs. K. B. Ayeye conceded the blamed to safeguard in the whole for N500, 000 with two surties in like total.
Ayeye dismissed the case till 2 February, 2016 for notice while the respondent was taken to Ikoyi jail, Lagos, pending when he will satisfy his safeguard conditions.
