Lionel Messi may well have cemented his place as Barcelona’s greatest ever No. 10, but the Argentine talisman clearly has not forgotten about the Camp Nou star who came before him.
Messi struck up a close bond with former Barca No. 10 Ronaldinho after arriving in the Barca dressing room in 2004 as a 16-year-old, and has offered a gesture of gratitude to the Brazilian with a signed shirt.
The present was the focus of a Barca TV programme to be shown at Christmas, focusing on the 10-year anniversary of the 3-0 win at Real Madrid which saw Ronaldinho given a standing ovation by home fans.
Ronaldinho was clearly delighted with the gift, posting a picture of the jersey on Instagram with the accompanying message: “Received a signed shirt from my friend, teammate and great player Messi. Big hug, brother.”
The pair struck up a close bond on the Camp Nou pitch 11 years ago, and it’s clear that their relationship has continued despite Ronaldinho leaving Catalonia in 2008.
