Wladimir Klitschko has hinted at a return to the ring in a message on Wednesday thanking his fans for their support following the loss of his world heavyweight boxing titles to Britain’s Tyson Fury.
“The Klitschko story will continue. Failure is not an option,’’ 39-year-old Klitschko said in a message on Instagram.
Fury, who beat Klitschko in a unanimous points decision in Dusseldorf last Saturday, has said the Hamburg-based Ukrainian is contractually entitled to a rematch and he is willing for another fight to go ahead.
Klitschko, who lost his IBF, WBO and WBA titles in his 19th title defence, has yet to give a definite statement on his plans.
“It’s been four days now and I need some time to understand what happened and to decide my next steps,’’ he said on Instagram.
“But: I have to thank my fans, my team and all my partners. You have always been great and supportive.
“After an 11-year winning streak, I now begin to realise that you are even greater in defeat.
“I received many messages over these last few days. Your kind words and blessings are helping me get through this rough time.’’ (dpa/NAN)
