The President of Nigeria has called for help in Malta for Nigeria and other countries affected by the scourge of terrorism. He called for the establishment of a Commonwealth Committee to oversee the rendering of greater assistance and support to Nigeria and other member-countries which had been adversely affected by terrorism.
The President made the plea when he spoke at a banquet hosted by Queen Elizabeth II for Heads of State and Government participating in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Malta, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina said in a statement yesterday.
He also noted that 10,000 Nigerians have been killed and 2 million people have been internally displaced so far since terrorism started 6 years ago in Nigeria. He said most of the people affected are women and children.
He also expressed the hope that the committee would have been established before the next meeting of the organisation.
