An Ogba Chief Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Tope Otenaike, to six months in prison with hard labour for stealing N15, 000 property of one Onyedika Eze.
Otenaike was arraigned by the police on November 10 on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Uche Simon, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 4 at Shop 196, Ikota Shopping Complex, Ajah, Lagos.
He said the defendant, who lives at No. 350 Jakande Estate, Ajah, Lagos and others still at large, snatched Eze’s bag after threatening her with a dangerous weapon.
The offences contravene Sections 409 and 285(a)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011, the prosecutor added.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Y.R. Pineiro, found Otenaike guilty on both counts and sentenced him to six months jail term without an option of fine.
