The expulsion of the affected students was contained in a press release of the university signed by its registrar/ secretary, Mr. Sam Egwu, and issued to journalists.
The statement reads in parts: “In keeping with our extant regulation on duration of undergraduate courses and by approval of WASP board and the senate of Ebonyi State University all the under-listed WASP students registered from 2000 to 2006 and who are yet to graduate as expected are due for withdrawal and hereby stand withdrawn with effect from the date of this publication.”
Mr. Egwu further directed that any of the affected students who wish to continue should apply for extension.
“All students on approved extension and others wishing to apply are graciously permitted to obtain the application form for programme extension,” he said.
He warned that any of the affected students who fail to obtain the form on or before February 2016 shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the university.
