President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has retained his number one spot as the richest man in Africa. He is said to be worth $16.7 billion.
According to the latest ranking by Forbes, Dangote is followed by South Africa’s diamond merchant, Nicky Oppenheimer, who is worth $6.6 billion.
The third richest African is another South African, Christoffel Wiese, who is estimated to be worth $6.5 billion. He is followed by fellow countryman, Johann Rupert, who is worth $6.3 billion.
King Mohammed VI of Morocco is estimated to be worth $5.7 billion and ranks number 5, while Nigeria’s Mike Adenuga is the 7th richest in Africa with an estimated worth of $3.5 billion.
Forbes which released its latest list of 50 richest Africa’s billionaires listed Femi Otedola ($1.6 billion) at number 16, while Abdulsamad Rabiu is at number 23 and worth $1 billion. Billionaire philanthropist, General T.Y. Danjuma (rtd) is the 30th richest and worth $750 million, while Slok Group president and former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu is at no 49 with an estimated $330 million in fortune.
