The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday dismissed the fresh corruption charges brought before it by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, a report monitored on the Nigerian Television Authority has said.
The fresh charges in the N19.2 billion fraud allegation against Sylva was filed by the EFCC on June 12, 2015.
The initial case was dismissed by the Federal High Court, also in Abuja, on June 10.
Sylva was charged alongside Francis Okokuro, Gbenga Balogun and Samuel Ogbuku.
They allegedly used three companies – Marlin Maritime Limited, Eat Catering Services Limited and Haloween-Blue Construction and Logistics Limited – to move about N19.2 billion from Bayelsa State coffers between 2009 and 2012 under the false pretence of using the withdrawn money to augment salaries of the state government workers.
