The Senate has postponed again the screening hearing for former governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.

His screening had suffered several hitches in the last one week, caused by the delays by the Senate ad-hoc ethics committee, in submitting a report on the petitions written against his nomination.

Today, the Senate again put off his screening and four other nominees, earlier scheduled for today’s plenary session.

Instead, the senate said only three persons will now be screened.

They are Barrister Adebayo Shittu, the nominee from Oyo state, Professor Claudius Omoyele Daramola, the nominee from Ondo State and Khadija Abba Ibrahim, from Yobe State.

Daramola is a native of Ode-Aye in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State.

He attended the famous Divisional Teacher Training College for the Teacher Grade II Certificate before proceeding to the University of Sokoto (now Usmanu Dan Fodiyo Univerty, Sokoto) where he received B. Sc. Ed. in Sociology.

He later attended the University of Jos and obtained M. Ed. in Sociology of Education.

His Ph. D. Degree was earned at the University of Ilorin where he has been a distinguished Professor of Sociology of Education.

Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim is 48 years old and wife of a former governor of Yobe state.

In her own right, the University of Surrey educated woman is a current third-term member of the House of Representatives. She is representing Damaturu/Gujba/Gulani/Tarmuwa constituency.

She was educated at Headington School, Oxford, Padworth College, and the University of Surrey , where she studied Business Studies and Sociology, and graduated in 1989.

Adebayo Shittu, 62 years old, began his political career in 1979 when he was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly at the age of 26 on the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria.

He crossed carpet to the National Party of Nigeria and his reward was his appointment as
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Home Affairs under the three-month administration of Omololu Olunloyo. The military sacked the government at the end of 1983.

Shittu was also the attorney General and Oyo State Commissioner for Justice in the Rasheed Ladoja government. He bagged his law degree at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife
