Police in Ogun State have summoned famous fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, to answer questions on Thursday over the shooting of a female university undergraduate allegedly by one of his bodyguards.
Police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, told PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday that the musician was invited to assist police investigation.
“Yes it is true, the command has officially written the musician to appear on Thursday. We are expecting him to come so that we can get more information. The hotel owner has already given his own statement,” Mr. Adejobi said referring to the hotel where the incident happened.
He said the police were determined to get to the root of the matter.
He said the bullet which lodged in the victim’s buttocks had been extracted, and said the patient was responding to treatment.
“The command has been visiting the patient in the hospital, the bullet in her bottom had been extracted, and she is responding to treatment and doing well now,” Mr. Adejobi said.
The victim, Azeez Kofowora, of Department of Business Education at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, was hit by a bullet allegedly fired by the musician’s bodyguard during a late night party on Saturday.
Police confirmed that the 21-year-old victim was sitting in a Honda Accord Car nearby when she was hit.
