Detectives attached to Kirfi Police Division have arrested a 35year-old man over the killing of an 11-year-old boy in Beni, Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer in Bauchi, DSP Haruna Mohammed, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
The statement said the suspect lured one Auwalu Manu and slaughtered him with a hand trowel.
It added that suspect further used the same object to slice his own throat in a bid to commit suicide and as a result became unconscious.
According to the police statement, the scene of the crime was visited and a blood stained hand trowel was recovered as exhibit.
The statement added that both the victim and suspect were rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi where the victim was certified dead.
The suspect, the statement said, was admitted for medical attention while the corpse was photographed and released to the victim’s relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.
The statement added that the case was still under investigation. (NAN)
