The Police in Kano state have arrested nine suspected armed robbers and car snatchers in Kano metropolis.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Musa Majiya, announced the feat while briefing reporters in Kano on Wednesday.
Majiya said the suspected armed robbers who disguised as oil sellers, stormed the house of a former military administrator (name withheld) on Sept. 30.
“The special force received a distress call by a former military administrator and promptly responded to the distress call.
“The suspects disguised as oil sellers, one of the suspects was apprehended during an exchange of fire while another one escaped with bullet wound,’’ he said.
Majiya said that during the encounter, one of the policemen also sustained injury and was now receiving medical treatment.
He also said on Sunday Oct. 4, the police engaged a gang of suspected armed robbers at Gwammaja quarters in Kano metropolis following a tip-off.
Majiya said during the encounter, one Yusuf Kabiru was arrested while other members of his gang escaped but three of them were later arrested.
“Investigation indicated that he was released from prison one week ago.
“He also confessed to have participated in various armed robberies with members of his syndicate,’’ he said.
Majiya also said that the police had apprehended a spiritualist who disguised as a fake Islamic cleric in Nasarawa G.R.A in Kano.
“He was arrested with one Munkaila who is a house help that stole 100,000 US dollars from his master and shared the money with him (Kabiru),” he said.
Majiya assured that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was completed.
