The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, yesterday disclosed that the newly restructured Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has begun operations against Boko Haram terrorists within the designated areas.
Buratai who made this known when the Netherlands Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Col. Eric Adriaan de Landmeter paid him a courtesy call at the Army Headquarters (AHQ) also described the army as a force to be reckoned with at all times.
According to a statement issued yesterday by the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, the COAS disclosed that “the MNJTF has commenced operation”, and “that troops contributing countries are expected to operate within their territories.”
He assured the defence attaché of the Nigerian army’s determination to end Boko Haram activities soon.
The COAS who appreciated the defence attache for the visit, reportedly emphasized that the two countries have been participating in Peace Support Operations.
