Unknown gunmen have attacked the home of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Matters, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The Nation gathered that the gunmen accosted policemen guarding the building on Tuesday evening and opened fire on them.
The incident was the second attack on Dudafa’s home by armed men.
In April this year, gunmen dressed in mobile police uniform burgled the home of Dudafa and carted away an undisclosed sum of money after vandalising the safe kept in one of the rooms.
It was gathered that the Tuesday attack occurred at about 5:00pm in front of the expansive building located at the Okaka Estate.
The bandits were said to have shot one of the policemen twice, while others reportedly fled to different directions for safety.
Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen alighted from their Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), disarmed the injured policeman and fled with his AK47 rifle.
A security source who spoke in confidence said: “The gunmen stormed the vicinity on a Lexus SUV. Though they did not gain entrance into the building, they opened fire on security operatives at the gate. It was a surprise attack. One of the policemen was shot twice, while others fled.”
