The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Monday said it had impounded a 40,000-litre kerosene tanker, over product diversion.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Malam Muhammed Gidado, told newsmen in Dutse that the driver and three others were arrested in connection with the diversion on Friday in Kano.
He said that those arrested were the driver, his assistant, the manager of the filling station the commodity was meant for, and a dealer.
Gidado said that the commodity was meant for Mobaco Filling Station in Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa.
He said that the arrest was made through intelligence sharing between Jigawa and Kano Commands of the outfit.
The commandant said that the suspects were initially arrested by the Kano Command before they were handed over to the corps in Jigawa.
According to him, the suspects were arrested while attempting to sell the commodity in the black market.
Gidado said that investigation into the case was still ongoing, after which the suspects would be charged to court.
The commandant, therefore, warned others to desist from such nefarious activities, saying that the corps would not relent in fishing out criminals in the state. (NAN)
