Super Eagles captain and number one goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has been given time off by his club, Lille for the funeral of his late mum.
Enyeama lost his mum in September forcing him to miss out on the Super Eagles 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania which ended in a goalless draw and a 2-0 win over Niger Republic in a friendly game.
The funeral has been fixed for Friday, October 2 which means that Enyeama will miss Lille’s next two matches this week against Nantes at home tonight and against Montpellier (again at home) on Friday night.
Though the club did not intend to give the goalkeeper any time off, coach coach Herve Renard revealed that family pressures from Nigeria have turned their hands.
“There was some changes this weekend, from what was previously planned,” Renard told L’Equipe on Monday, September 28.
“The pressure from the family was very high. And then, it will be the international break.”
