Wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, on Monday represented the wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, at a meeting of Organisation of African First Ladies in New York.
The meeting, which bordered on First Ladies’ advocacy against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) was held on sidelines of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, New York City.
Mrs. Saraki took to her Twitter handle to announce the delivering of Mrs Buhari’s speech at the meeting.
Delivering the speech, Toyin quoted Aisha Buhari as commending the dedication and focus of the First Spouses on HIV AIDs in African nations.
The development may have put to rest the insinuation that the presidency was behind the legal travails of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Apart from the fact that Saraki is facing criminal charges before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, his wife, Toyin is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged money laundering.
But the presidency last week came out to dissociate itself from ongoing trial of the Senate President, saying attempts to link his legal travails to it and President Muhammadu Buhari was unacceptable.
