French champions Paris Saint-Germain say they will make a donation of €1 million to help ease the Syrian refugee crisis.
A number of football clubs have come to the aid for refugees from war-torn Syria and PSG has swelled that number by one.
Rel Madrid, Bayern Munich, Porto and UEFA have all confirmed various degrees of financial aid to the refugees.
In a statement published by PSG, president of the charity Secours Populaire Julien Laupretre said: “We have already conducted projects with PSG for many years to help the most vulnerable children in France.
“We are now pleased to extend this partnership to respond to the urgency of the refugee crisis. The support of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation will be very useful for developing our projects.”
The UNHCR, the arm of the United Nations that deals with refugees, will also benefit from PSG’s donation.
