Kaduna State deputy governor, Arch Barnabas Bala Bantex, has disclosed that he never wanted to become the deputy governor but that the governor, Malam Nasir el-rufai insisted that they work together to make Kaduna great again.
He equally said that he would have regretted taking up the position if the governor would have to learn from him, stressing that his principal is an intelligent man that he is learning a lot from.
Architect Bantex stated this in his response in Kaduna during a reception organised in his honour by the Federal Government College (FGC), Warri Alumni Association where he graduated from.
According to him, “I never wanted this deputy governor’s job but el-Rufai insisted that this NGO I am talking about, you can’t change anything if you are not in government, and that I should come so that we can work together.
“I was very reluctant for so many reasons but he insisted. The only thing that would have made me to regret is that if he turns out to be somebody who is learning from me, I think it would have been a great burden, but he is somebody who keeps us working. He keeps his vision very clear, there is no confusion about where we are going, we are totally committed towards changing Kaduna State for the better.”
Continuing he said, “I am extremely lucky that I am not a deputy governor to someone who knows nothing, because I could imagine what that could have meant. It would have been the greatest frustration in my life, it would have been punishment but I am behind a man that I am struggling to catch up with.
“He didn’t go to federal government college, he went to an equally good school, Barewa college, even though, like any other school, Barewa has slipped a little bit to a lower level.
“But in my political career, I have not met any brilliant person like Nasir El-Rufai.“
