Seven young people have been blamed for assaulting a merchant inside a square in the Alaba Market, Lagos State.
Two of them, ─ Abeeb Busari, 22, and 18-year-old Lawal Gbolahan ─ who were caught and summoned in court by the police, have been remanded in authority by an Apapa Magistrate's Court.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the police had dispatched a manhunt for the other escaping guilty parties while the captured suspects have possessed up to the wrongdoing.
The casualty, 24-year-old Bola (alias), genuinely utilized garments as a part of the region.
It was assembled that the lady was selling her products around 4.30pm on May 27, when Busari, who functions as a bricklayer on a development venture at the business, summoned her under the affection of purchasing a coat for which he consented to pay N500.
He supposedly advised her to tail him to a room in a court at the business sector ─ where he had held up ─ to gather the cash for the thing.
Busari, it was learnt, was following up on the request of one of his accessories, recognized as Tunde, who supposedly arranged the wrongdoing to rebuff the casualty for an undisclosed offense.
Our journalist was informed that on getting to the room, Busari close the entryway and requested the lady to sit, while Gbolahan and the other five criminals bounced down from the rooftop, where they had covered up. They professedly alternated To Molest her.
After around 30 minutes, a welder, Idris Lasisi, who apparently saw the broker and Busari, followed her to the square and burst into the room.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects debilitated him with a blade when he endeavored to raise the caution.
Busari, who hails from the Ikorodu territory of the state, admitted to the wrongdoing, saying it was Tunde, one of the escaping suspects, who arranged the demonstration.
He said, "I was in the business sector on the game changing day when I saw Bola peddling genuinely utilized garments.
I cheated her that I needed to purchase a coat and requesting that her tail me upstairs to gather the cash.
When she went into my room, I bolted the entryway. Before then, old buddy, Tunde had made course of action with other five young men to stow away inside the roof.
"They hopped down when she came in. It was Tunde, who tore her underwear and debilitated her with a knife. "That you and five others everywhere on the same date, time and place in the previously stated authoritative area did unlawfully and commandingly have the fornication with of one Bola."
The litigants conceded to the charges, which as indicated by a police prosecutor, ASP Olusoji Ojaokomo, repudiate areas 409 and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.
Adekomaya requested that the litigant be remanded in jail and suspended the case till July 28, 2015.
