Mr Femi Gbajabiamila has been adopted as the All Progressives Congress sole candidate for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Mr Gbajabiamila was elected at a primary election for APC members organised by the leadership of the party on Saturday in Abuja. He edged out Yakubu Dogara to clinch the APC candidacy.
Some aggrieved supporters of Dogara reportedly walked out of the primaries. The aggrieved members said that they were not given sufficient notice for the primaries.
Mr. Dogara has released a statement in which he also rejected the election. Dogara and his supporters say the election was against President Muhammadu Buhari’s position on the process of electing new leaders for the National Assembly.
