The three songs are a variation of each other with vocal arrangements, beat patterns and progression all overlapping at some point. Here's the true story.
There has been words flying on social media about the songs ‘Kayefi’ by K9, ‘Skilashii’ by Reminisce and ‘Shake Body’ by Skales.
The three songs are a variation of each other with vocal arrangements, beat patterns and progression all overlapping at some point.
Pulse Music carried out an investigation about the affair and discovered the following.
The beat from the trio of songs originated from renowned producer, Sarz, who personally the beat. He made the beat while working with his protégé, Jay Pizzle, an upcoming producer who was cutting his teeth with Sarz.
Jay Pizzle finally left Sarz’s guidance to set up his practice, and one of the first major tracks he did was with Skales for the hit song, ‘Shake Body’. The beat for the Shake body was a remade version of Sarz’s production with similar synths.
According to inside sources Sarz is unhappy for his lack of credits on the song ‘Shake Body’, and that has made his relationship with Skales fractious. The pair will most likely not work together for some time to come.
The beat by Sarz is almost the same on the songs ‘Kayefi’, and ‘Skilashii’. K9 had earlier gone to Sarz for a production, heard the beat and fallen in love with it. He then made a freetsyle on it, which he was unable to release due to his inability to pay for the beat.
Reminisce on hearing the beat from Sarz, fell hard for it, bought it off Sarz , and with the help of signed vocalist Sojay, made the record ‘Skilashii’ which is housed on his newly released EP, ‘Baba Hafusa’.
Reminisce has major plans for the Afro-Pop tune, releasing it as a single, with moves underway to release a high budget video for the song.

Over the weekend, the song recorded by K9 on the same beat made its way to the internet, with many music platforms publishing the song.
This has caused quite some unhappiness at Edge Records, with Reminisce’s manager, Ibrahim Okulaja requesting for the song to be taken off the internet.
Here’s an excerpt from the request: “The management of EDGE ENTERTAINMENT hereby request for the immediate take-down of (K9 - KAYEFI song) on all blog, it is a copyright infringement on a PAID-FOR beat already used by REMINISCE on the record "SKILASHII" off the BABAHAFUSA album, Our management own 100% copyright to the music production of the record.”
K9 has also distanced himself from the release, stating on twitter that the song is a leak, and denying any involvement with the release.
“I didn't leak nor was I involved in d leaking of that "leaked freestyle" song. I don't knw who did. Som1 got hold of my hard-drive or smtn”, K9 said.
