Former Minister of Information and Culture, Prince Tony Momoh, has said that corrupt officials in Buhari’s government will be jailed.
Momoh who stated this at the maiden meeting of the One Voice Nigeria (OVN)-Discourse/Leadership Colloquium, said that Buhari will not tolerate corruption, adding that elected officials who are found compromising their position will be jailed.
He said Buhari will follow fully the rule of law and will not tolerate corrupt officials in his administration. Momoh also commended the group for supporting Buhari through social media, which he said helped him a great deal to win the presidential election.
According to Leadership, he said “We didn’t have money for space in newspaper and to talk in the radio or television station about ourselves.
If election was to have been conducted in radio and newspapers, we would have lost. But it was the voters that had the say, and they voted for Buhari,” he said.
Momoh described Buhari as a simple man who did things without compromise.
He urged elected officials to be prepared to follow the footsteps of Buhari by following the rules and regulations without attempting to bend them.
The former Minister who stated that many banks will lose the loans given to elected officials since they encouraged them to take the loans which are more than their entitlement, and warned the banks to be cautious of how they romance with elected officials.
Earlier in his welcome address, the National Chairman of OVN, Barr. Yakubu Jimba, stated that members of the group were ardent new media users who engaged in individual campaign for Buhari because of their dissatisfaction with the outcome of the presidential election of 2011.
Jimba stated that the group’s campaign was guided by the manifesto of Buhari and called on the president-elect to fix the problem of insecurity situation and corruption in the country.
