Card Readers Responsible For Low Turnout - Oshiomole

Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo state has berated the Independent National Electoral Commission over the re-current failure of card readers in the gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections.

According to Channels TV, Oshiomole said it is embarrassing that the INEC has again failed to get its act right on the use of the card reader.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at 3:10pm at Unit 1, Ward 10, Iyamho in Etsako West local government area of the state, the governor advised the INEC to punish some of its staff who he said deliberately frustrated the exercise.
He expressed his concerns over the low turnout of voters because of the frustration they experienced with the card readers.
On its part, INEC has said results in areas where the state returning officer recorded violence may be cancelled.
There have been reports of violence in Delta and Imo states during the exercise.

Meanwhile, there was mayhem at Iwere-Ile in Iwajowa Local government in Oyo state as hoodlums attacked an INEC officer and destroyed election materials.
