Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has pointed the finger of blame at himself for Eden Hazard’s protracted contract talks.
The Portuguese manager claims his lack of ‘a nice pen’ is the only thing preventing the Blues from securing the talented attacker’s signature.
Stamford Bridge officials and Hazard’s representatives have been locked in talks over a new deal for several months but they have yet to formally agree terms.
The Belgian’s current deal runs to 2017 but Chelsea want to tie him down to a new five-year-deal with reported wages of £200,000-a-week.
The ongoing delay has worried Blues fans with PSG known admirers of the former Lille prodigy who want to bring him back to France.
But Mourinho insists there is nothing to be concerned about and offered an explanation.
“I am buying a nice pen,” Mourinho said regarding Hazard’s situation.
“I need a bit of time to go to Sloane Street and buy a proper pen.
“I just need time to buy the pen and after that I think there is not a long time to go!”
