West Ham United failed in a late effort to sign Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor on loan on deadline day, it has been revealed.
Sky Sports reported on Sunday that the 30-year-old Togolese striker was made available for the rest of the season but Spurs have been loath to loan players to Premier League rivals.
That has ruled Adebayor out of joining clubs in the top-half of the table, with the Hammers four points and two places below Spurs, despite the player wanting to join the club and West Ham having fulfilled the loan criteria.
It is also understood that Queens Park Rangers were interested in bringing the former Arsenal and Manchester City forward on loan but he will now remain a Tottenham player.
