D’banj, who in 2012 left the record label he co-founded, Mo’Hits, following conflict with his partnerDon Jazzy, has been rumoured to be on the brink offinancial ruin.
Critics have also lambasted him for failing to producea hit single since the split.
Speaking to On-Air-Personality, Olisa Adibua, on hiseponymous show, The Truth by Olisa Adibua, Dbanjsaid the past two years since the split has been someof the best years of his life.
He noted that for a long time, while with Mo’Hits, he was forced to share his revenue from performances with other members of the label, which included D’Prince, Dr. Sid, Wande Coal and D’Banj’s brother, KSwitch.
“This has been the best two years of my life,” he said.Mr. Adibua also challenged the Oliver Twist singer onthe rumour that he was having trouble retaining staffand was being sued by an unnamed businessman whom Dbanj owed loads of money.
Dbanj said he still worked with his staff and on thealleged court case: “My lawyers told me not to sayanything since it’s allegedly a rumour,” he said. “It’sso painful that people know you are such a hugebrand that God has blessed, and they feel the bestthing to do is defamation of character.
”On his lack of hits, Dbanj, demanded whatconstituted a hit, insisting that on the contrary, hiscareer has boomed since he went solo.
The artiste said he would be releasing his new line ofheadphones and would have launched by January ifthings had gone as planned.
He also revealed that he is collaborating with phonecompany, Apple, but refused to reveal details of thecontract. He, however, claimed that the phones were“already sold out”.
