Fernando Torres has hinted promises were unfulfilled during his brief loan spell at AC Milan.
The former Chelsea forward joined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan deal last summer and managed just seven Serie A starts before heading back to his boyhood club Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.
Milan signed him permanently on an 18-month deal in December, but he was immediately loaned out for the remainder of that period to Atletico, who in turn sent Alessio Cerci to the San Siro.
And now Torres, who has scored three goals since his return to the Spanish capital, has lifted the lid on why things did not go as planned for him during his time in Italy.
"The situation was so – I went with an expectation and with an idea which, later, was not met,” he told Spanish newspaper AS.
“I went to Italy to play, to be an important player, and at no point did I feel like it. I was in and out of the team, I played on one day, yes, and on another, no. This is not what I had spoken of from the beginning.
"My dealings with the club were excellent and I don’t have anything to reproach. But when you see it’s not going to get better, nor change the situation you have, you are uncomfortable."
