About 17 persons died in a motor accident that occurred at Dogon-Kukah village, in Damagum LGA of Yobe state, on Monday.
According to an eye witness, Mallam Isa Yahaya, the accident involved a luxurious bus and a trailer coming from opposite direction.
He said the passenger bus had a burst tyre on motion, before it ran into the oncoming truck.
The Head of accident and emergency unit at the Damagum General Hospital, Mallam Isa Yusuf, told reporters that 17 corpses were brought to the hospital and that 50 others were currently receiving treatment at the hospital, adding that in line with the Yobe State Government’s policies, those on admission would be treated free for 48 hours.
The corpse of the 17 people had been deposited at the Damagum General Hospital.
