Alexis Sanchez was once again the hero for Arsenal as they claimed a late, late 1-0 victory against a stubborn Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger’s men found it difficult to break down the Saints for long periods, with Ronaldo Koeman’s men defending well and looking to strike on the break.
The hosts ramped up the pressure in the last 20 minutes and substitute Olivier Giroud saw a looping header brilliantly kept out by Fraser Forster as the Saints looked to cling on with 10 men after Toby Alderweireld was forced off with a hamstring injury.
But Alexis was on the spot to tap home Aaron Ramsey’s low cross with two minutes to go to secure the points.
