The acting police spokes person in the state, ASP Stephen Okwundu, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect later took the severed head of his father to the village’s playground celebrating that his problem was over.
He revealed that it took the efforts of youths of the area who mobilized themselves to disarm and arrest the suspect, who was later handed over to the police in Ikwo division.
Okwundu said: “One John, a middle-aged man was arrested and brought to police headquarters for allegedly killing his father, Ikor, by using cutlass to cut off his head.
The suspect, when interrogated said his father had been the cause of his misfortune in life and he killed him to pave way for progress since he had been an obstacle to him.”
Okwundu added that the suspect was helping police in investigating the matter after which he would be prosecuted for m****r.
