The suspect had allegedly snatched the car on Pioneer Street, Independence Layout, Enugu, at the gate of the owner’s house as he made his way into the compound on November 29.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying: “The suspect snatched the car as the owner made his way into his compound. The owner parked the car before the gate, came down to open the gate to enable him drive in.
“The suspect had laid ambush waiting for him. The key was left in the ignition while the owner was opening the gate. The suspect sprang up and drove off with the vehicle at gun point.
“He drove the car to Owerri, Imo State and parked it in a car stand where he sold it for N700,000. Having sold the car, he moved to Benin, Edo State to enjoy his loot. It was in Benin that the operatives tracked him down in a restaurant.
